Hi section! :D
This is kind of late and it has been 26/27 hours since our concert. I am totally feeling the post-concert blues and withdrawal symptoms. And my right arm is dying from muscle ache, thanks to the countless glissandos in our repertoire (I went to count and I had to play 18 glissandos in total for the entire concert, including those in Into The New World haha)
I really wanted to text y'all like Jiahui and Emily (thank you dears) but 1. thanks to concert prep and all my phone bills have officially gone sky high 2. I went for supper with jaclyn and michelle and reached home at 12am._. and most important of all, 3. It isn't until now that I've consolidated my thoughts on the concert. I (actually I'm sure many of us) floated around my house the whole day not really doing anything because I cannot believe concert is already over. So sorry if you were expecting my SMS but hey at least I texted you all to read this post right!
Anyway (that's a lot of random stuff on top, but I'm getting to the main point now 8D) I just wanted to say that I'm really proud of you guys!!! You've worked really really hard for this concert and I know sometimes I can be a little harsh on you guys but thank you for working so hard despite so. I'm not a great SL, but seeing all of you grow and learn within this past 10 months is really something I take pride in, especially in these few months of preparation for concert. I have no words to say how thankful Jiahui and I are that you've made our last concert with nycb a fulfilling and memorable one <3
My memory of playing in the concert is in bits and pieces, really, but I can remember a few moments when I was really happy with the music we were playing.
During Hobart Centennial, Jiahui and Yukee-- your accents during the rit. part at bar 99(?) were super awesome. During Simple Gifts 3rd movement, Emily and Justine-- the part where only 1st trombones come in and we have to play long notes really softly, the tone and tuning were so nice <3 During Seventh Night of July, Lynette and Justine-- I think that was the nicest I've heard you guys play the fast part on the 3rd page, the tone was exactly the blasty tone the part needed. And Justine, thank you for playing the high G near the end of Seventh Night :D And lastly, during Carribean Hideaway, I was sitting next to Lilian and Emily so I could hear them really clearly, and I could really feel y'all giving your might to play the piece. Thank you for creating all these memories for me; it is these little parts of the concert that makes me want to relive it once again. (It's like how I can never get over how the entire band breathed together just before the repeating of the first few bars in Singapore Flyer, and that super in tune high F in Flight of the Piasa during SYF'11)
With no doubt, this concert has made it to my list of most memorable experiences in nycb, and I hope it has made it to your list too. Thank you for making this concert happen, for dedicating your time to practice even though the period before concert was really horrible with BTs and all (:
let's go trombones! (:
<3 yuxin!
