NANYANGTROMBONESSECTIONBLOG.
Hello Trombones!
SYF is in a week's time and I really hope you all are feeling the stress and are all ready to rock that hall down on the 3rd of April and get that Gold with Honours!
To get you all to put in that last spurt of effort for the remaining seven days, I'm going to try my best and get you all to maximize all your potential so that you all will be even better than you all are now!
Yes, to check if you all are really ready to get that Gold with Honours and do the school, your seniors, the whole band and most importantly, yourself, proud, I'm going to ask you all six questions (:
1. Do you know the differences between all the seven articulations in Overture No. 2?
2. Can you play all the articulation of Overture No. 2 differently and accurately?
3. Are you sure you can tongue the semiquavers equally, neatly and accurately?
4. Do you know if you dynamics are differentiated enough?
5. Do you know how importance of differentiating the different articulation and dynamics of a piece?
6. Is Gold with Honours really what you want?
If any of your answers are no, don't you think you should be putting in more effort, considering that SYF is in less that 4 practices away?
If you are thinking, "Also no more prac for me to prac already, how to put in more effort?" Then maybe you all can find other opportunities to practice. For example, buzzing on your mouthpiece. Buzz anything, twinkletwinkle, long notes, semiquavers, your favourite pop song, seriously, anything will do the job. Do this for 5-10 minutes everyday, I can promise you. You will improve.
I don't know how many of you all will believe me and heed my advice but please remember, one chance is all you've got. You do not want to think back to today when it's over and regret that you didn't put in enough effort. What I want, is for all of you to look back and smile, when you realise that all the hardwork was worth it.
On a side note, although this is super late, roar, I want to compliment those who are putting in the effort (which is all of you I suppose.. and hope). Special pat on the back for Pamela who ran for section run despite her flat foot :D And also Clarissa who came back after shifting her tuition and despite her cough (your throat sounded bad, get well soon!) :D & Clarice who got the section to come back and got the keys :D Oh and not to forget, Rie and Michelle who also took the time to come back for sectionals that Saturday :D After that day of sectionals, I really think you all improved! In terms of musical quality of your playing, you all are really good already :D
For those who couldn't make it that day, please practice yourself! From now, every effort counts already. It's only seven days more, make the best out of it. I hope no teachers sees this because I think he or she will scold me but, just buzz when you are studying if you really can't take the time out to prac. It won't affect your studies much (for these seven days) but that periods of buzzing will strengthen your embouchure exponentially, seriously.
Oh and, Wanting, if you are still sick, get well soon!
Lastly, do not fall sick during this period! Drink loads of water and eat your vitamin Cs (:
One chance, you all do not want to regret not putting in enough effort. (: Jiayou!
